Do I need to come into your office?
We understand that you have a life. Between work, family, friends, and hobbies, you might not have the time to come in to our office. We can meet via video conference and outside normal business hours if needed. Whatever works best for you.
What does your typical client look like?
Our clients are individuals and couples in their twenties and thirties whose lives are becoming more complicated. They understand they need to think about the future. They’re realizing they need to have some savings, they’re starting to build a family, or they want to explore their life’s ambitions while maintaining a certain lifestyle.
What am I actually buying?
The initial process of goal discovery and financial recommendations will take two to three meetings or calls. At that point you will receive a personal Financial Plan, not a computer output report. Throughout the year we will hold three meetings to review and update your plan. We’ll follow up with you periodically to help you stay on track. If any questions or needs come up, you have access to me via email and phone.
What is the cost?
Your cost will depend upon your life’s complexity and needs, but below is the range:
- $500 to $1,000 for the initial goal discovery and financial recommendations process
- 12 Month retainer for $150 to $300 per month
- After the initial 12 months, the retainer can be renegotiated
- You can pay by check, Electronic Funds Transfer, or Credit Card
Is it worth it?
We help you discover where you are now and the most effective way to get where you want to go. Not making the best use of your resources can force you to alter or delay your goals. Getting started in the right direction will put you on the path to achieving your life goals.
Will you advise me on my investments?
Absolutely! We’ll create a custom strategy for all of your investments based on your investment goals.
What is “Fee-Only” Planning and why is it important to me?
Fee-Only financial planners receive a fee only for their advice and counsel. They never receive any commissions, sales incentives, or bonuses by selling products. Therefore, there are no conflicts of interest. You have full knowledge that the recommendations being made are solely in your best interest.
Will you manage my investments?
Absolutely! We use FOLIOfn and Charles Schwab as our custodians to implement a low-cost ETF strategy that will help achieve your investment goals. There are no assets minimums to open the accounts. There is a separate asset management fee for this.
What if I don’t want an ongoing planning relationship?
Our experience shows that the best way to accomplish your life and financial goals is to have a “coach” who will keep you on track and keep you accountable. Therefore, we don’t provide one-time planning engagements.
What can I not expect from you?
We aren’t your parents. We will coach you on good spending habits but we are not budget babysitters. We provide sound financial advice, we are not product salespeople. We are not a hedge fund. We are not Wolf of Wall Street.
How do I get started?
We start with an initial 30-minute-long Introductory Meeting, either by phone or over coffee. If we’re a fit, then we’ll setup the larger Discovery Meeting and begin the financial planning process.
